Minds Behind the Brand
Intellectual Property began with two brothers from Oakland and a shared love of fashion, creativity, and ideas.
Growing up, we were drawn to brands that felt like more than clothing—brands with their own worlds, characters, philosophies, and identities. We admired the imagination behind them and the way a great piece of clothing could communicate something about the person wearing it before they ever said a word.
Eventually, we began asking ourselves a simple question:
What would we want our own brand to stand for?
The answer was the mind.
As two Nigerian-American brothers pursuing careers in education and healthcare, we have seen intelligence take countless forms. It isn't limited to classrooms, degrees, or professions. It's in the artist developing an original vision, the entrepreneur taking an idea from nothing to something, the craftsman mastering a skill, the athlete studying their craft, and the everyday person determined to become better than they were yesterday.
We wanted to create a brand that celebrated all of it.
A brand where intelligence could exist alongside great design. Where craftsmanship, originality, confidence, faith, curiosity, and style didn't have to occupy separate worlds. A brand that could feel thoughtful without losing its edge—and meaningful without forgetting to be cool.
That idea became Intellectual Property.
Our Christian faith also shapes the way we understand creativity and purpose. We believe the human intellect is one of God's greatest gifts, and that what we create with it matters. Every invention, work of art, business, building, movement, and masterpiece existed as an idea before it became something the world could see.
That's why we believe the mind deserves to be celebrated.
Today, we're building Intellectual Property around that conviction—creating clothing for thinkers, builders, dreamers, creators, and anyone committed to learning, growing, and leaving something meaningful behind.
We're still building. Still learning. Still creating.
And that's the point.
Everything begins with an idea.
Wear Your Mind.
Tokunbo — The Storyteller
Crowned King Born Across the Water
Tokunbo is the older brother and the voice behind much of the world of Intellectual Property. A high school English teacher by profession, his work has always centered around language, ideas, storytelling, and helping others discover what they are capable of becoming. His name, Tokunbo, means “crowned king born across the water,” a reflection of the Nigerian heritage that he and his brother carry with them.
Within Intellectual Property, Tokunbo leads branding, marketing, and sales, helping shape how the philosophy of IP is communicated to the world. He is also the creator of Curio, the brand's brain mascot and embodiment of its belief that intelligence is not simply something you possess—it's something you practice. From the stories behind collections to the ideas that give each piece meaning, Tokunbo's role is to make sure Intellectual Property remains more than clothing. His responsibility is helping tell the story behind the clothes—and making sure that story is worth telling.
Deji — The Designer
Second to the Throne
Deji is the younger brother and the creative eye behind Intellectual Property's fashion. A nurse by profession, his career is rooted in care, precision, responsibility, and attention to detail—qualities that naturally carry into the way he approaches design. His name, Deji, means “second to the throne,” while his second name carries the meaning “follow me home,” connecting his identity to family, heritage, and the Nigerian roots shared by both brothers.
Within Intellectual Property, Deji is responsible for fashion design, translating the brand's ideas into pieces people can actually wear. He considers the graphics, colors, silhouettes, placement, and details that turn a concept into a finished garment. Where Intellectual Property begins with an idea, Deji helps give that idea form. His role is to make sure the philosophy doesn't remain on paper—it becomes something tangible, distinctive, and worthy of being worn.
